View Full Version : Oi!
I am Isaac, owner of mustangs! (only 1 actully) I'm 18 & own an '89 GT. So far all that is done to it is: K&N filter, Ported GT40 IM, 1" Phenolic spacer, X303 cam, Mac 1 5/8" unequal shorties, Mac 2.5" O/R H-pipe, Mac mufflers, & 4.10's. It started with a T5 in it which got me to 8.14 in the 1/8th. I put a built C4 from a friend in it to see how the times compared & the engine gave up before I could get it to the track. (oil pump shaft twisted in two) Which brings us up to speed. I just finished rebuilding both the engine & transmission. Apparently I'm not good at rebuilding transmissions, because it won't work very well now, it wants to move forward in all gears & slips no matter where the throttle is. The rear seal on it leaks aswell. I blame myself for that one I forgot to put any fluid on it when I was putting it back together, so I'm sure the friction anihalated it. (no biggy, they're chea) I inspected the valve body, all is good there. I suspect it is the pump which I will look at when I change transmissions. I'm putting my T5 back in as soon as I can find my clutch cable & flywheel. The petal & everything else is still in the car. The engine runs good, but needs a fan clutch or electric fan.
As of previous cars i've owned. None were v8's. I've owned an '85 Fiero 2M4 (blown engine) which I bought for $50 & want to use for a v8 swap. I also own 3 Probe GT's '93 & two '96's & I still own the '93 & one of the '96's. The last '96 had undergone a twin turbo treatment, my first turbo project. Unfortunetly I only owned it for 5 months, then sold it. After fabricating the twin turbo system for that car I got addicted to it & offered some friends my service for whatever it cost + $700 extra. Most went the junkyard route, & 1 got all new parts. My total ammount of fabricated kits: 4 single turbo kits, 1 twin (my car), & 1 centrifugal supercharger kit. Now, I'm working on a single design for my other '96 I'm hoping to make a business out of it some time in the future before I turn 30.
damn bro you should help me with my car! welcome to the site man

If it's going to be a beater car get the cheapest 5speed 93+ one you can. The 5speeds get better fuel economy. & make sure you get an SE, the base models look ugly. Or you could get an 88-92 GT(turbocharged 4 cylinder), they get good gas milage, are pretty quick, & reliable. I'm not sure if you would mind owning a turbo'd 4cylinder or not. I'm the type of person that would take any car & look at it as a challenge to make it quick. So, Would own a honda? Yes. Would try to make it fast? Yes. Just for the challenge. I would prefer mustangs & camaros over those though for the more potential & cheaper factors. Not to mention they sound better. & nothing can look better than a mustang.

I usually have trouble getting motivated to start on a project, but once I get started I don't want to stop until it's done. The turbo/supercharger projects I don't have trouble getting motivated on. The trouble with them is, getting the parts. Turbocharging a vehicle is not a hard task, just time consuming. I wouldn't try it if you can't cut & weld & don't have a friend that can either. But, like most things this is an area that can easily be learned.
I never had a problem with my idle, other than when my intake manifold cracked. Thank god for high temp silicone  & I love the X

Never quit reading. I don't read things like stories, but if you give me an article on anything that has to do with a car I'll probably read it a couple times. T. Knight got me hooked on the boost subject & he's helped me learn alot of things that the books & articles i've read don't tell about.
hahahaha
yeah I read shit over about 5-6 times if it stays in front of my face for about a week
yeah the computers on the foxes were much more friendly with the big cams than the 94-95
