ok i have a 88 coupe with 4 point cage, racing seats, driveshaft loop, lakewood suspension, subframe connectors, fuel cell and batt in trunk,

i got a 86 block out of mustang and i have a scat 347 stroker crank new in box and a set of 5.4 rods and apr bolts and a powerdyne 8lb supercharger bd11a, 92 mm mass air,

Should i run the stock block?

i want to get afr 185 heads and a holley systemax intake and 75 mm throttle body and 42 lb injectors and i was wondering how this setup should run and what kind of pistons should i run? i know i want either 8:1 or 9:1 compression.. i got the rods and crank.. i just need to know whats the other best stuff i need for my set up and i need opionions... im really lost and ive never built a blower motor... but i got good deals on the crank and the blower so im going to build a 347 blown stroker... thanks in advance

Whats the goals for the car ? Race or street, or some of both. How much of both. Your block should be OK. I would put a girdle on it though. Some think it helps, others dont. If nothing else it will hold it together, and minimize damage if something does happen.

I'd look for an early block(1969-73) if you can't afford an aftermarket one. They are stronger and have beefier main caps. I'd also shell out the extra money for a custom cam from either jay allen or ed curtis. Plenty of piston options...probe, diamond, mahle.

Go with a custom grind cam, 8.1 pistons, and some cometic gaskets. With a safe tune you should easily go over 500 hp @ the wheels. You might want to consider some trans options as wel.

If its going to be a mostly track car. I would go with something bigger than a TFS stage 1. I personally would go with a blower specific cam. Just call up Comp Cams or whoever you would like. Its personal preference, but i like Comp myself. 1-800-cam-help. I havent bought any for a while, but the last I bought. SRP pistons were hard to beat for the money. Keith Black has forged pistons out now too. They are real cheap too. Ive heard some bash em,but I think their confusing them with the KB hypereutectics. My dad has those in his car,and they take a 250 shot of juice with no problems. Some of the blower guys may have a bettr idea of what would be the best, but if your not going over 8-10 lbs of boost I would stay at about 9:1 comp. We always use the copper head gaskets.

Im just aking cause I have no idea. lolYou go with the 8.1 pistons. then you can bump it up to 8.5ish depending on the cc's of the heads and what not, but it is more difficult to lower compression. If your running more then 12 p.s.i your gonna want to be under 9:1
