I have noticed with the last two fill ups that the guage is real slow to return to full. Now I know it may be in shock with the realizing the cost of gas and just takes a while to return to reality but i am not sure if this is a common problem or if there is a simple fix.

I think it depends on if you leave it running when you fill up.
If you turn it off everything resets when you crank it up.
Just a guess.

i wanna say the sending unit takes an average of how much gas is in the tank, so when there is a flucuation, like u take a turn, it wont shoot up or down like the old floats used to do. That should basically be why its not gonna shoot right up.

not a real issue. Just bugs me. I am easily frustrated.

hahahaha ok. what bugs me is how accurate the gauge seems. once a gallon is gone it moves lol. my 04 had 4 stages. full, then it would just be at 3/4 1/2 and 1/4. i never noticed move lol

Yeah, I know in these cars it is more a proximation of fuel than an actual reading. It should be full or 1/2 just through out the 3/4 mark. Like it ever stays there more than 10 miles.

Modman, you should NEVER fill your gastank while your Mustang is running! I have made this mistake while filling up with my daughter in the car, and I didn't want her to get cold. When I got back in the car, same thing the needle taking A long time to register full. The next time I did this I get A check engine light staring at me!! I freaked out thinking that I got some bad gas or something, and took #6 to the local Ford dealer to make sure that the car was alright and told the service manager what had happened. He said something about A evap malfunction triggering the check engine light, reset the light for free and warned me against filling the tank while the motor is running, even said to be sure and remove the key from the ignition! :hi: MR SHELBY!! :hi:

i always take the key out of the ignition and it takes like 20 seconds for the needle to go from e to full...:dunno:
