View Full Version : alright, it's decision time...
i have decided on flowmaster for my exhaust, but now im left with one last decision, which ones to get, i know the delta flow 40's i had on my V6 were extremely quiet, alot of people have told me the delta flow 40 sounds better than the original 40 on the 4.6, but my thinking tells me the delta flow wouldnt be loud enough over stock to justify it and would be a waste of my time and money since i have no plans to get an off-road mid pipe to wake things up, due to NC's emissions laws, so, anyone got any advice for me....i never knew it would be so hard to decide on exhaust....
get the origianl 40s. what ever came in the American Thunder Cat-back was not original 40s, and it wasnt that much louder then stock. i was told by a number of flowmaster guys to change them out to original 40s

hate to say it but the Delta Flows do sound nicer than the originals...i had originals on my stang and my sis had delta flows..hers sounded a helluva lot better than mine did(stock H on both) then we both added O/R H to the cars and well mine sounded good but dunno hers always had a better tone...so IMO get the Delta Flows...oh and about it being hard to choose on exhaust,lemme tell you ive been there done that...im on my third catback...ive gone thru FLows,SLP(tried all 3 resonators/mufflers),Bassani,and finally now Borla Stingers...and Borla wins hands down!!

Original 40's are smaller with less baffles there's no way they sound quieter or worse then the delta 40's that have double the baffles and an extra 5 inches in length.

BTW, you guys need to start using the mustang tech rooms for this kind of stuff. They could use the activity.

problem here is, im pretty much a broke college student, i can afford to get exhaust, but only once, i cant afford to experiment right now, i know for a fact the straight through sound(borla, SLP, etc etc), isnt for me...., alot of people dont like flowmaster these days, but at least i know i cant go wrong with it sound wise, since it's pretty much common knowledge that flowmaster has a good sound on stangs....

I'v had them on all 7 of my stangs. You cant beat the sound, your making the right decision. I'd say go with the originals, since its going to be on the stock midpipe for a while, not saying the deltas will sound bad, but the originals will give the most bark. If emissions is a problem, when you got the cash look into a catted midpipe, Mac makes one and its not too expensive. Then you will really open them up!

Yeah, I had them on my 98...one of the best sounding GT's I have ever heard. I know thats a little bias, but Brian thought it was pretty good sounding too
